　　Recently, our classic XinHua Chinese dictionary has adopted some imported English abbreviations which aroused great argument in academic society. Some complain “NBA”, “E-MAIL”, “PM2.5”...are totally English and should be purged from pure Chinese enviroment. But some are comparatively utterly for this new innovation, labeling it an important step forward helping to diversify Chinese. Neither side gained upper hand yet.

　　In my perspective, language is pool of vocabularies which honestly inherit the old from the past, and readily acquire the new from the present. This is how language develops in its due course. Furthermore, the development of language is not nationally isolated but internationally interacted. For example, we don’t have “sofa”, “coffee”... in traditional Chinese. Now, such are widely used in our daily life. On the other hand, our Chinese has the tendency to influence the English world as well. For example, “DaMa”, “Long time no see”...Nobody will feel odd while hearing these.

　　All in all, let’s simply adopt “let it be” attitude. If only, the use of new expressions, regardless of where they are from, help to make our communication easier. We are open to it.
